La Compagnie Dumas is B-Corp certified with a score of 117.9, which is a source of great pride for our company. This figure may not mean much to you, but it's a very good score, and if you add enthusiasm to it, you could say exceptional! We'll tell you more below about what a "very good" B-Corp score means. This demanding and prestigious label recognises the commitment of organisations to an economy that contributes to the environment and society. The Compagnie Dumas, with more than a century of handed-down know-how, combines respect for the environment, social innovation and support for local communities. This step is not neutral and it marks an important milestone for us in our mission to combine manufacturing quality, sleep quality and comfort for our customers while actively participating in the ecological and social transition.
What is the B-Corp label?
The B-Corp label, launched in 2005 by the NGO B-Lab, stands for ‘Benefit Corporation’, and means that the most complex issues facing us cannot be resolved by governments and non-profit organisations alone. Of course we need them, but for-profit companies also play a vital role in shaping our future.
As a B-Corp we meet high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability. By placing extra-financial impact at the heart of the business model, this certification goes beyond the ambitions of traditional CSR: it encourages and values the use of economic leverage to have a positive impact on our stakeholders, our territory, our communities, and our beloved planet on which we all depend.
With over 9,300 certified companies worldwide by 2024, including 500 in France, the B-Corp movement is growing and embodies a collective vision while demanding a profound transformation of business models to promote a fair and regenerative economy
How is our B-Corp rating calculated?
To obtain B-Corp certification, a company must achieve a minimum score of 80 points in the B Impact Assessment (BIA), a rigorous tool consisting of 240 questions divided into five areas: governance, employees, community, environment and customers. This assessment involves an in-depth analysis of internal and external practices, concrete commitments and measurable results, backed up by detailed documentation. A rigorous audit then validates the data provided, guaranteeing the credibility of the score and ensuring a standard of excellence.’
La Compagnie Dumas' score: 117.9 points
With 117.9 points, La Compagnie Dumas is well above the required threshold, illustrating its exemplary performance in the five areas assessed. They are fuelled by 4 impact business models (IBM) recognised by B-Corp for intentionally generating a positive social and/or environmental benefit for one of the company's stakeholders, over and above the operational impact of its activity.
- Our governance model incorporates social and environmental objectives: La Compagnie Dumas considers social and environmental impact to be key success criteria, on a par with profitability, and has incorporated them into its articles of association and strategic decisions.
- Our eco-responsible products combine innovation and sustainability and adopt production, distribution and consumption processes designed to reduce environmental impact. This includes design based on the circular economy, recycled raw materials such as Seaqual and Recover fabrics, and processes that respect ecosystems.
- The company is also distinguished by its commitment to its employees within an inclusive, caring working environment that encourages career progression and autonomy. We wouldn't be much of a company without our employees, and we work hard every day to strengthen our team and promote work-life balance.
- The Compagnie Dumas supports the vitality of its local area by strengthening the inclusion of vulnerable people and working with local players through cooperative projects. We support cultural and sporting initiatives that are a source of well-being, sharing and collective achievement.
